BIOGRAPHY I’ve tried many times to write down some pertinent
facts … early experiences that might lead you to understand the
inspirations fueling my music. Unfortunately, it always comes off as
distant and egotistical … a life’s chronicle of events and
accomplishments which may give the reader some insight as to where
I’ve been … but not a truthful glimpse of who I am. Let’s face it … our
personal view of who we are does not really coincide with how others
perceive us. Music.
It is a constant in my life. I
cannot remember a time when I have not been excited by its call. There is
no one style of music to which I am loyal. I can honestly say that I am
entertained and moved by all forms of lyrical expression. It is a wonderful blessing when an
artist bestows a part of himself, so for me, it is easy to be appreciative
of the effort. So many have
inspired me but I do have my favorites. Kenny Rankin, Cat Stevens, Gordon
Lightfoot, Tom Waits, and Richie Havens to name a
few. Just as
it has been for you, music has also been a good friend to me. We can all recall those special times
when a phrase in a song or a change in progression or key has touched us
when we needed the consolation. Throughout my life music has held me
up when I needed the lift and helped me remember what I thought I had
forgotten. I always wanted to
play and sing my favorite songs. In 1999, I bought a second-hand
guitar and decided to learn a few songs. Soon I wrote my first song for my daughter
and so began expressing a part of myself never realized before. It is here that I have discovered who
I am. Forty years have passed
in this lifetime and my adventures continue. 15 years of my life in the United
States Navy introduced me to many cultures and bore many tales. You will find it all in the music. Now there will always be a song to sing and its expression uniquely singular. If it comes from someplace deep within, honest and heartfelt, the worth is evident. My music … my songs … come from that place. I hope you can feel that.
